How to read the tarot like a professionaL

Have you found that having learnt many different meanings of the Tarot cards from many different sources it still does not work?

The cards have at least three different sorts of meanings and can change their meanings depending on what other cards are around them and where they occur during a story or string of events.

Even more interesting, the cards can mean slightly different things to one person than another because it is a symbolic language between a person and their higher self or guides and as you learn the Tarot, the Tarot is learning about you and how you operate.

Let the day ahead be your teacher, in the morning place the cards face down on a table and say or think “what does today want from me?” Swirl them round like image 1 and select three cards and place them face up. The centre card is the most important and the ones either side of it modify it. You might not know what they mean but by the evening they will make more sense to you. Keep going each day and you will get better and better – I guarantee it!

Some days they will make no sense but with perseverance you will look back days later and suddenly they will. Sometimes they will refer to the problems of someone close to you which is having an effect on you.

Here are three examples of three separate 3 card readings: -

The central Moon card represents mystery, intuition, and the unconscious mind. In this spread, the Chariot card represents control, determination, and forward movement, while the Ten of Swords represents a painful ending or betrayal. Together, these cards suggest that you may be facing a challenging situation that requires you to trust your intuition, stay focused on your goals, and be aware of hidden influences. The Chariot card indicates that you have the ability to control your own energy and desires, but the Ten of Swords suggests that you may experience a painful ending or betrayal. Ultimately, accepting what has happened and letting go of attachments or expectations may bring a sense of release and surrender.

Another interpretation could be that a difficult journey or sequence of events (the Moon) needs a lot of self-control and directing (the Chariot) in order to avoid the painful consequences of the 10 of Swords. If these were your cards you would be able to put them into chain of events that was happening to you.

The central Queen of Swords reversed is surrounded by the King of Swords and the Ten of Swords reversed, indicating a difficult and confusing time. The King and Queen of Swords suggest a focus on communication and logic, but with the Queen reversed, there may be harsh or critical behaviour, leading to misunderstandings. The Ten of Swords reversed suggests the lessening of a difficult situation, but there may be residual pain. This combination suggests approaching difficult situations with clarity, fairness, and compassion, taking time to process any emotional scars, communicating honestly, and striving for understanding and empathy. With patience and a willingness to learn, it's possible to move forward with greater insight and resilience.

The central Sun card surrounded by the King of Swords and the World indicates a time of clarity, success, and balance. The King of Swords represents clear thinking and communication, and the World suggests fulfillment and new opportunities. This combination suggests a time of celebration and achievement after a long journey, with greater understanding and new perspectives gained. Overall, this is a highly positive and auspicious time for growth and success, where embracing change and moving forward with confidence is encouraged.
